This year marks our 70th anniversary as a church! A church is not a building, a service, or a program it is followers of Jesus joyfully united in the mission He has given us.

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

Over the years, we’ve experienced seasons of challenge and seasons of great blessing, but through it all, Jesus has always been our focus and foundation.

As we celebrate this incredible milestone, we believe God is not finished with what He wants to do in and through our church. We step into the future with gratitude, faith, and great expectation because the best is yet to come!

OUR STORY

October, 3rd 1956

In a powerful step of faith, a group of believers from Tempe First Baptist Church signed a membership charter and began the story of our church.

1957

With faith and anticipation, our church met for service at Ralph Waldo Emerson Elementary School as construction began on our first building on University Drive in Mesa.

1960's

In a remarkable season of blessing, God grew our church to around 500 in attendance and opened doors for us to be part of multiple other churches forming.

1981

In another step of faith, the University campus was sold, and our church gathered for worship at Crismon Elementary School while a new campus was being built on the corner of Alma School and Medina.

1982

A major step forward came with the construction of the B and C Buildings, forming our first Worship Center and kids ministry spaces on our new campus.

1983

What is now our English Worship Center was completed and dedicated, allowing thousands over the years to hear the gospel.

1986

As our church continued to grow, the campus expanded with the addition of the D Building, creating more space for kids and youth to experience God.

2001

The gym, kitchen, offices, and youth worship center were built, strengthening our mission as a multigenerational church.

2021

God led us to be one church in multiple languages. When a Spanish Life Group led by Pastor Solomon grew into a entire service and the creation and dedication of our Spanish Worship Center.

2025

In a powerful answer to prayer, the failure of the cooling tower led to the modernization of the English Worship Center’s air-conditioning system.

PRAYER GUIDE

Give thanks for God’s faithfulness, 70 years

and counting.

Confess sin and ask for courage and protection as we face the challenges and spiritual attacks of the future.

Ask God to help us to fully follow Jesus: every ministry, every person, no exceptions.

In faith ask for God’s direction, unity and blessing, because His work is not done.

Lift up our leadership as they lead us forward in our next right steps.

Listen as the Holy Spirit shapes your heart and mind for what God is calling you to do.

Fully commit before the Lord to the mission He has given to us!

Praise God for the opportunity to be part of all that He has, is, and will do through our church.

As a church we are pursuing three goals to continue to accomplish our mission of:

Inviting people to experince God and follow Jesus with their entire lives!

“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. Matthew 6:19-21

We have identified several dream projects that will build the future of our church.

These Legacy projects will be able to be completed at a pace determined by our generosity above and beyond the regular tithe and offerings.

ONE CHURCH

MULTIPLE LANGUAGES
