Then he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"
...that you are a sinner.
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." - Romans 3:23
"Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation." - 2 Corinthians 7:10
...in Christ. More than an intellectual belief, this is trusting Him with your life and depending on the salvation He so freely gave through His death on the cross and His subsequent resurrection.
"Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved." - Acts 16:31
"For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith..." - Romans 1:17
...Christ as Lord.
"That if you confess with your mouth 'Jesus is Lord' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth you confess and are saved." - Romans 10:9-10
All this can be accomplished in a simple, heartfelt prayer...something like this: 'Father God, I come to you, ready to admit that I have sinned against you and am in need of a savior. Please forgive me of my sins. I hereby confess my belief in Jesus Christ, Your son, as the One who paid the price for my sins and freely gives an open pathway to a relationship with You. I now trust Him with my life. Thank You for loving me; help me to know, love, and follow You. In Jesus' name, amen.'
