YOU MATTER TO GOD
A New Name for the Next Season of Ministry
For 70 years, God has been faithful to our church.
He has saved people, changed lives, restored families, raised up leaders, and used this church to make an impact in our city and beyond. We are deeply grateful for every person, every prayer, every sacrifice, and every story that has shaped our church through the years.
As we celebrate that legacy, we are also stepping into a new season.
That is why we are publicly transitioning our name from Mesa Baptist Church to Fusion Church.
This is not a change in our mission, doctrine, or love for our church family. It is a change in how we present ourselves as we look ahead to the future God is calling us into.
Same Mission. New Name.
The church is not a building or a brand.
The church is people saved by Jesus, united in the mission He has given us.
Our mission is not changing.
Our beliefs are not changing.
Our doctrine is not changing.
What is changing is our public name — because we believe this new name will help us communicate who we are and what God is calling us to do with greater clarity in the years ahead.
Why Fusion Church?
The name Fusion Church reflects both our story and our calling.
It speaks to the beauty of people being brought together in Jesus.
It reflects the truth that we are fused together as one body in Christ — across generations, cirties, backgrounds, and languages — to live on mission together.
It also reflects the work of the gospel in every believer: broken people made new in Jesus, united to Him and transformed by His grace.
Fusion Church captures both our strong heritage and our hopeful future.
Honoring the Past. Embracing the Future.
We are not walking away from our history. We are celebrating it!
Our legacy as Mesa Baptist Church matters deeply to us. We thank God for the men and women who built this church, served faithfully, gave sacrificially, and passed the gospel on to future generations.
That legacy is worth honoring.
In fact, our legal name will remain Mesa Baptist Church. As we move forward, we will simply begin identifying publicly as Fusion Church.
This transition is not about erasing the past. It is about building on it.
FAQ
Have questions? We have the answers!
No.
What we believe and teach is rooted in the inspiration, inerrancy, and authority of God’s Word. Because God’s Word does not change, our beliefs do not change.
We also continue to hold to a strong Baptist theological tradition reflected in our Statement of Faith.
This name transition is about mission clarity, not doctrinal change.
As we celebrate 70 years as a church, we have been prayerfully asking how to position our church for the next 7, 17, and 70 years of faithful ministry.
This conversation has come up at different times over the years, and after much prayer, discussion, and leadership unity, we believe now is the right time.
Throughout Scripture, name changes often marked moments of renewed purpose and fresh direction. We believe God is leading us into a significant new season, and this name reflects that step of faith.
We are "One Church in Multiple Languages"!
One of the beautiful things about the name Fusion is that it remains the same in both English and Spanish.
That matters to us.
We are one church family with a heart to reach people across languages, generations, and cultures. This new name gives us a unique opportunity to reflect that unity even more clearly.
Some ministry names will be updated as part of this transition, especially those that currently use “MBC” in the name.
Others names like: The Gathering, The War Room, La Onda (Life Groups) and La Congre (Spanish Sunday Morning Service) will remain the same.
No matter what names change or stay, our heart for people and our commitment to ministry remains exactly the same.
In the months ahead, you’ll begin to see this transition reflected in our communication, signage, website, and ministry branding. With an official name transition taking place on August 23rd.
We are excited for what is ahead and grateful for the opportunity to step into this next season together.
Most of all, we are thankful that while a name may change, the mission remains the same: We exist to invite people to experience God and follow Jesus with their entire lives!
A Church Family Fused Together by Jesus
Imperfect people following a perfect Jesus.
One church. One mission. One future in Christ.
We are broken people being fused together with Christ to create something new.
Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus. Romans 6:5-10
Every person living a life of purpose and significance, fused together by Jesus to be the church.
Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. Ephesians 4:14-16
